Day 1: Sunday, July 27

Welcome to Vacationland! Today we will travel to Portsmouth, NH for a 1-night stay. This evening, we will dine at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 2: Monday, July 28

We begin the day with breakfast at our hotel before making our way to Bar Harbor, Maine.

We will enjoy free time for shopping and lunch on our own in Bar Harbor to explore the shops, boutiques and numerous restaurants that are centrally located along the waterfront along with parks and a shoreline walking trail.

Say good-bye to the USA and travel to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on the comfort of the CAT ferry (3.5 hrs.). Dinner will be on our own on board with restaurants and lounges to choose from. The CAT features comfortable seats, duty-free gift shop and movie area or take a stroll and possibly spot a whale in the Gulf of Maine.

Upon our arrival in Yarmouth, we’ll meet our full-time, kilted tour guide, who will stay with us throughout Canada and check into our hotel for the evening.

Day 3: Tuesday, July 29

After breakfast, we will depart Yarmouth and travel to Liverpool for a rest stop along the way.

We will travel along Nova Scotia’s pristine south shore to Lunenburg, one of Canada’s prettiest towns and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After lunch today we will make a stop in Mahone Bay for a photo opportunity of the three pretty churches on the harbor followed by a City Tour of Halifax. This tour of the historic port city and stories of Halifax during the war years, the Halifax Explosion and of the people and places that have shaped one of North America’s most popular destinations. Highlights will include a visit to Halifax Citadel National Historic Site and a stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens, a fine example of Victorian landscaping. Visit the Fairview Lawn Cemetery to see the Titanic Graves and learn about the city’s connection to the 1912 disaster. Also see the waterfront, historic downtown, St. Paul’s Church, the universities, shopping and residential areas.

Dinner will be at a local favorite this evening and then check into our hotel for the night.

Day 4: Wednesday, July 30

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning before we board the coach for a tour at the The Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre located just outside of Truro. The MCHC has Mi’kmaw artifacts dating back as old as 7,500 years. Stop in to learn about the history of the indigenous people of the surrounding area. With knowledgeable staff on hand, any questions can be answered.

In the afternoon we will depart for Prince Edward Island crossing over the world-famous Confederation Bridge, the longest continuous multi-span bridge in the world.

Tonight, we will put on our souvenir lobster hat for an included traditional PEI lobster supper. This Maritime tradition includes tasty chowder or soup, delicious locally cultivated mussels, salad and homemade rolls accompanying a one-pound lobster (or alternate menu for any landlubbers). Save some room for a dazzling array of scrumptious desserts.

After dinner we will check into our hotel in Charlottetown for 2 nights.

Day 5: Thursday, July 31

Following breakfast at the hotel we will enjoy Charlottetown Touring including a walking tour with the Confederation Players.

Next, we will head to “Anne’s Land” where we will visit Green Gables, which became famous around the world as the inspiration for the setting in Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic tale of fiction “Anne of Green Gables”.

Then it’s on to Prince Edward Island National Park, renowned for its white sand beaches, red sandstone cliffs and rolling dunes. Stop at one of the local beaches where we can dip our toes in the ocean if we wish.

We will enjoy an early dinner and then some live entertainment; a performance of “Anne & Gilbert – the Musical”.

Day 6: Friday, August 1

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel this morning, we will depart for Saint John, NB. Once we reach the Saint John area, we will have lunch on our own before our guide provides us with an overview of the Loyalist City, including a stop at the Reversing Falls Skywalk.

We will then top off the day with dinner at a local restaurant before retiring to our hotel in Saint John.

Day 7: Saturday, August 2

A 15-minuted film telling the story of Roosevelt’s “beloved island” is shown at the visitor center and a box lunch will be included on site to enjoy while overlooking the bays.
