TIPS for a Tourific Tour:
Know Your Group!
You may have a great idea for a tour, but will your group go for it? Before you plan a tour for your group, make sure you know what they want. We usually need a minimum of 30 people to run a tour.
- What are their interests? History, shopping, casinos, factory tours, festivals, dinner shows, concerts, religious, Broadway shows, mysteries?
- Do they prefer one-day trips or overnight tours? We suggest starting with one-day trips. If they go well, try an overnight tour.
- Will the amount of walking be a consideration? We can tailor each tour to the group’s physical needs.
- When do they prefer to travel? Many of our groups prefer spring and fall, although some travel in summerand winter as well. Weekdays are a good time to visit various locations when they are usually less crowded and prices are generally lower.
Promoting your Tour!
Now that your tour is in place, it’s time to begin drumming up interest.
- We can provide you with an appealing flyer for you to duplicate and distribute to your group.
- Talk it up! Talk about the trip as often as possible to the members of your
group. A personal invitation is one of the best ways to get people to join
your trip.

- Consider opening up your tour to people beyond your groups immediate membership. This is a great way to get more people on the tour and bring new members to your group.
- If you are willing to open up your tour to other people, check with local newspapers, “shoppers”, etc. to see if they will list your tour in their community calendar.
- Check with local businesses, churches, libraries, or post-offices to see if they will let you display your flyer.
- Make sure everyone is well aware of tour payment & cancellation deadlines and policies. If they are concerned about having to cancel after they sign up, we can provide information on trip cancellation insurance upon request.
On the Day of your Tour
Here are some tips to remember when the day of the tour arrives!
- If your group is traveling with Elite Coach, be assured they are riding in deluxe motorcoaches that are equipped with everything to make their trip comfortable and enjoyable; including restrooms, video players, reclining plush seats and courteous, professional drivers.
- On the day of the tour we provide the group leader with a folder containing a detailed timed itinerary, brochures and information sheets. This information may be shared with your group to get them excited about the day’s happenings and to keep them informed. Everything has been taken care of in advance or will be handled by the driver.
- Clearly communicate the days itinerary to your group and keep them informed as the day goes on! Be sure to inform them in advance of meeting times, and let them know what’s coming up next on the itinerary. This is an important function of the group leader and your group will appreciate it!
- While on a tour it is the perfect time to inform your group of future tours you have in place or to get their input about future tour ideas.
- Some groups like to play games. You can provide small, inexpensive prizes to winners or just play for fun. You can also play video or cassette tapes.
- Make sure you give your group down time to chat among themselves, read, enjoy the scenery or just snooze.
- Most importantly, have fun!
Thank you for choosing Elite Coach! We look forward to serving you.
